Major Government Restructuring in Argentina: Top Official Dismissed

Argentina's government is undergoing a deep restructuring. Manuel Adorni, the new Chief of Cabinet, has carried out a major reorganization that led to the dismissal of José Rolandi, the last high-ranking official to survive the initial mass purge. This decision, finalized after a meeting at the Casa Rosada involving Adorni, Rolandi, and his deputy, Nicolás Germán, implies the elimination of the Vice-Chief of Cabinet positions and consolidates Adorni's power as the main coordinator and supervisor of the administrative and political management. Rolandi, an industrial engineer with a purely technical profile, had been a key figure during the first months of the libertarian administration, mainly due to his crucial role as an interlocutor with dialogist legislative blocs in Congress. However, Adorni's decision to strictly simplify the organizational chart and eliminate the vice-chiefs of cabinet (Rolandi was Executive Vice-Chief and Lisandro Catalán from the Interior) made him dispensable. He will be replaced by Aimé 'Memé' Vázquez, who will be given the explicit mandate to be the 'eyes of Javier and Karina Milei' in the Executive Branch to ensure total alignment of the government. Previously, Rolandi had been forced to move his office out of the Casa Rosada, a clear sign of his falling out of favor. His ties to the business group Corporación América had caused distrust within the president's inner circle, who never considered him part of the founding core. The turning point came in January 2025, when he was removed from the Cabinet's WhatsApp group amid serious suspicions of information leaks to the press.
